My name is George (Georgios) Christidis and I am a PhD graduate in Electrical Engineering and a Power Electronics Engineer. I was a member of the Laboratory of Electromechanical Energy Conversion (LEMEC), in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE), University of Patras (UPAT), Greece. My field of study is Power Electronics and my PhD dissertation is on solar microinverters, from 2010 to 2016.

After graduating from the Hellenic American Educational Foundation in 2005, in Athens (where I grew up), I earned my diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, from my current university in 2010, with a specialization in the area of Electronics.

My PhD thesis examines the design of the DC/AC inverters found in Photovoltaic modules, focusing on the power efficiency and volume optimization as well as the modeling and application of new wide band gap semiconductor devices, through mathematical analysis, computer simulation and experimental validation.

My research interests include the analysis, design, simulation and construction of DC/DC and DC/AC converters for use in renewable energy systems, waste heat recovery systems and aeronautical and space applications, as well low level embedded systems and FPGA design. I do apply some of the above on my current job position as well. One my most complex public project was building a grid tied microinverter in collaboration with PhD candidates of my former laboratory and creating the frontend and backend to control and monitor its operation.

In my spare time, I am an amateur cyclist, both on the road or on the mountain. I log my rides on Strava. When I am not cycling, I run or swim, or I play the bass. Photographs of my short early bassist career are hard to find.

I write about more day to day stuff on my blog. You can also find my profiles on Github and Google Scholar.
